Biomutant is a 3rd person open world action game, somewhat in the vein of Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but contains RPG and crafting elements. In this game, you play as a furry, bipedal hamster of sorts, that also happens to know martial arts. The major draw of this game, however, will be your magic superpowers. According to the game's website, you will be capable of using mutations and psychic powers, mechanical supplements, as well as highly customizable weapons, to customize your playstyle to a massive degree. This is why I say this game is of a similar vein of LoZ: Breath of the Wild. I see myself taking hours with certain abilities just to see in what ways they combine and how I can use them. I find myself fascinated just by sheer customizability THQ Nordic are offering.
Not to mention, the world they are making looks wonderful to explore with the various abilities the player can accumulate. It's beautiful, and vertical, and varied, and from the little I've seen, it looks like it's going to be fun to explore with magical powers and vehicles(by-the-way-there's-giant-mechs).
The game's story, at a base level, is that the "World Tree" is dying. Which wouldn't be a problem, except the World Tree is what keeps the world together. However, there is going to be more to the story, with a branching paths that define your journey, and factions you have to unite or kill. Also, everything is narrated by a narrator(appropriately) who feels the need to involve himself in EVERYTHING. Luckily, you can adjust how much narration he gives.
In summary, this game looks like a wet dream for anybody who enjoys exploration, of both mechanics and a world. I don't know how good the story will be, but THQ has a good history of exceptional gameplay and combat, after their work on the Just Cause series. I'm beyond excited to see just what Biomutant has to offer.
